Type Locality and Naming
A. Heim erected the Jiading bed in 1930. The type locality for the designation is in the Leshan City.
Lithology and Thickness
Sichuan Basin - south. The Jiading Group is mainly represented by a set of brick-red sandstone and 1000-odd sandy mudstone above, which is divided in ascending order into the Wuotoushan Fm, Daerdang Fm, Sanhe Fm, Gaokanba Fm and Liujia Fm (the Liujia Fm is Paleogene).

Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Its base is a disconformable contact marked by brick-red greatly massive gravel-bearing sandstone is distinguished from brown red mudstone of the Upper Jurassic Penglaizhen Fm. However, on regional stratigraphic columns, the next older, but largely coeval, unit is the Gudian Fm.
